Through the Fields
oil on canvas, embroidery thread, yarn, watercolor kozo paper, wooden laminate countertop trim

This painting depicts a landscape of a cow field, trees, and blue mountains, a combination of the places where I grew up. The mountain is Mt. Putnam on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation, while the field and trees are located in Blackfoot, Idaho. The threads and paper cover the cows and trees. On the kozo paper, the small printed text contains stories/memories of the two places. I purposely printed the stories small and on long strips of paper so viewers could interact with the piece, such as moving around the painting to read the text.
